(HAVANA/CUBA./January 18/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)- On January 15, three men tried to murder Lucas Raúl Pérez Pérez a 38 years old opponent and delegate in Camaguey of The Democratic Party November 30 "Frank País", declared sources of the opposition.
The hoodlums viciously attacked the dissident, they stabbed him and kicked him as he laid in the floor, then flew the scene as onlookers contemplated the beating, read a note from the information center of the above mentioned party of the opposition.
"The attackers stabbed him in the abdomen and the forearm- declared to Lux-Info-Press Antonia Pérez Ruiz, mother of the opponent, who pointed out that her son was admitted to the municipal hospital without police protection and his condition is listed as serious.
According to sources, the opponent was also battered by a group of strangers on May 29th 1999, and had to be admitted in the same hospital with serious lesions in his skull, the identity of the thugs is still unknown.
"I foresee that this occasion, the culprits won't be punished either", added the 54 years old mother.
On the 14th, the police had to erase several signs from walls on commercial sites in the same area which read… Abajo Fidel!
On the 15th, a group of strangers stoned windows of a commercial establishment and the police dispatched several police operatives in the hope of catching the culprits.

Intentan Asesinar a Opositor en Camagüey.
(LA HABANA/CUBA./18 de enero/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)- Tres supuestos delincuentes intentaron asesinar el 15 de enero último, al opositor Lucas Raúl Pérez Pérez de 38 años de edad, delegado en el municipio Florida, de la provincia de Camagüey del Partido Democrático 30 de Noviembre Frank País, informaron fuentes de la oposición.
Los malhechores arremetieron contra el disidente, lo apuñalaron y después de patearlo en el piso se dieron a la fuga ante la vista de algunos curiosos que contemplaron el hecho, dice una nota del Centro de Información y Prensa de la ilegal organización partidista.
"Los asaltante le dieron una puñalada en el abdomen y otra en el antebrazo derecho", dijo a Lux-Info-Press la madre del opositor Antonia Pérez Ruiz, quien asevero que a su hijo las autoridades lo ingresaron sin protección policial en la sala de cirugía de hombres del hospital municipal del territorio, en la cama 11, hasta su total recuperación, donde se encuentra en estado grave.
Según las fuentes el opositor fue atropellado por un grupo de desconocidos el 29 de mayo de 1999, por lo que estuvo ingresado en el mismo hospital con graves lecciones en el cráneo, pero hasta la fecha se desconoce la identidad de los malhechores.
"Presiento que en esta ocasión, tampoco van a aperecer los culpables del asalto", agrego la madre de 54 anos de edad.
El día 14, en el mismo territorio la policía borro de la paredes de establecimientos comerciales, varios carteles de Abajo Fidel.
El 15 un grupo de desconocidos apedreó vidrieras de establecimientos comerciales por lo que la policía lanzo varios operativos en el área para atrapar a los protagonistas de los hechos.
